New Year’s Resolution to Learn to Dance?
How About Trying Argentine Tango?
Experience the passion of Argentine Tango. Two of northern Colorado’s most exciting Argentine tango instructors are coming to teach beginner “nuevo” style Argentine tango in Fort Collins! John Miller and Jesica Cutler have agreed to travel to Fort Collins for a progressive series of tango classes – woohoo!
Important: NO DROP-INS! YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS AHEAD OF TIME! Please contact Kevin ASAP if you want in this class, as class size is limited and this is also posted on the Meet-up site. The roster will fill quickly!
Beginning February 17th (Saturday morning), we will learn Argentine Tango over a 4-week period in NW Fort Collins. There are plans to continue the progressive lessons in 4-week intervals if we get enough students/interest.
Learn to lead or follow – or both, regardless of gender. All ages welcome. We’ve taken their classes and love their instruction.
John Miller and Jesica Cutler have been teaching Argentine Tango together for five years, and in that time have a developed a teaching style that is clear, fun, and inviting.
Their approach to teaching is informed by a superb understanding of anatomy and body mechanics, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the technique, vocabulary, and structure of Tango.
Locally, they teach weekly classes in Boulder, Denver, Golden, and Colorado Springs, as well as working with numerous college clubs to bring Tango to younger generations.
They have also taught at numerous Tango events in the US and abroad, including the Wasatch Tango Festival, the Mountain Milonga Retreat, the La Paz Eco-Tango Festival in Mexico, and the Tango on the Rocks festival in Denver.
Saturdays mornings ~ 10am – 1130am
The class fee is $60 per person (full fee is payable by cash or check at the first lesson) and no experience is required. A partner is not necessary, and we will do our best to keep a balanced lead-follow ratio. Each class will be approximately one and a half hours long.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle for hydration. Bring a snack to share if you like.
We will be dancing on a very nice wood floor, so bring your dance shoes, wear socks, or any shoe that will let you slide slightly on the floor. Please avoid “sticky” shoe soles like running shoes, etc. Snug-fitting leather-soled shoes work great.
“When you dance with a partner you are close and the dance is very suggestive, but it is not personal… Close is what the music inspires you to become. The embrace looks personal, but what we are actually embracing is the music.”
Note to intermediate/experienced tango dancers: This is a beginner class and everyone in the class will start as beginners.
