EVENT: “Sunday Tango Beginners’ Boot Camp” 7 to 10 pm —a 3-Hour Tango Boot Camp — for first-time students, beginners, and those continuing. This is a great 3-hour session designed to introduce beginning students to the World of Tango. Attendees should be serious students, and should plan consistent, weekly attendance (not just “once in a while”) in order to benefit the most. Our night is full of drills, exercises, basics, fundamentals, dance technique, understanding the music, walking & pivoting, leading & following, and fun patterns for lead-and-follow social dancing. Three hours have been scheduled toadequately do justice to all aspects of Tango, and to prepare students for entry into higher-level classes. In fact, this boot camp will be everything a beginner needs to get started. This is a really fun evening!

Paul Palmintere is a long-time Tango Veteran from Southern California, and is among the most highly qualified of Tango instructors. He was a founder of the large Los Angeles Tango Community in 1986. He brings over 32 years of training & experience to this dance, and has been a major instructor since 1994. He has trained extensively with a great many of the most famous instructors of Buenos Aires. He has now had over 108 or 109 teachers himself, over the past 32 + years. A highly experienced and respected teacher, Paul is well-remembered for his pioneering classes throughout Southern California: Hollywood, Burbank, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, Redlands, San Bernardino, Palm Springs, and now Las Vegas & Henderson.

2510 Anthem Village Dr., ste. 150, Henderson, NV 89052 (Anthem Neighborhood)

A Beautiful & Modern Dance Facility in a Very Nice, Safe, & Upscale Area, about 12 Miles South of The Strip, and 4 Miles South of the 215 Freeway

Located between southern Eastern Avenue and Anthem Parkway, in Anthem in nearby Henderson, just past the point at which Anthem Parkway branches off from southern Eastern Avenue.

From the 215 Freeway, take Eastern Ave. south about 4 miles: Go past Silverado Ranch, St. Rose Pkwy., Coronado Center, Horizon Ridge, Sunridge Heights, and Summit Grove. Anthem Pkwy. branches off to your left. Follow the signs & arrows that say “Anthem” and this becomes Anthem Pkwy. The next traffic light is Reunion Dr. Turn right on Reunion Dr. Turn right a 2nd time on Anthem Village Dr. (there is a CVS at this corner). Turn right a 3rd time into the first driveway on your right, and The Stage is far in the back among a group of buildings that look like medical & law offices.

FOOTWEAR FOR TANGO

In Tango, we do a lot of pivoting and walking on a wood dance floor.

If you like Tango, and wish to stay involved long-term (and in order to make dancing more comfortable), you should invest in a pair of ballroom dance shoes. These are specially designed to walk & freely pivot on a wood dance floor. They have either leather or suede soles, and straps or laces over the top of the ankle to keep the shoe on the foot. Usually women’s shoes have a 3 or 4-inch heel, and men’s shoes have a 1-inch heel. You should refrain from wearing flip-flops, slip-ons, platforms, boots, athletic footwear, or shoes with soles of synthetic materials like nylon (since these will grip the floor, and prevent you from pivoting freely). Avoid patent leather, or shoes with protruding welts on their edges. Temporarily, dress shoes with leather soles, or even thick socks, might work. There is a discount store near Eastern & Sunset that seems to have the best prices in the Las Vegas Valley:
