SATURDAY TANGO TOPICS / DESCRIPTIONS BELOW
Extended time Intensive Seminar “Turn your World Around”
The turn in Tango is a fundamental movement that we use in every tango we dance! To execute a turn with refined and clean technique opens up an entire world of possibilities that exist inside the turn, such as, steps within the steps or between the steps. You will explore in depth techniques to solidify your turns, and to start to look deeper for the gems inside.
We will gather for refreshments and seating prior to the start of the Tango Enrichment Seminar.
Tango Enrichment Seminar – Taste of Argentina
You’ll fall in love with tango even more after this fascinating multi-media presentation of the cultural origin of tango and its evolution. Karen and Tate use recorded dialogue, photos, video, live performance and interaction to reveal the most important aspects in tango’s history to dancers. The ‘story of tango’ told in this way, helps dancers to embody the pure and essential essence of tango. In addition, Tate will have his bandoneon and will engage us in an interesting, up close and personal discussion and demonstration of the musical instrument that produces the notoriously soulful sound in Argentina’s music. Bring your questions for discussion afterwards. You will certainly take home a taste of Argentina that will deepen your appreciation for tango. NOT TO BE MISSED!!
PLEASE NOTE FOOD AND BEVERAGE DETAILS FOR SATURDAY POTLUCK … FOOD: Please bring with you a tasty finger food to share. Due to the studio setting, snacks should be simplistic, non-messy items such as appetizers, dips, snacks, cheese, fruit, nuts, sweets, etc. in a self contained dish. *Look for our helpers when you arrive and they will help store food items while workshops are in session. BEVERAGE: There is a water fountain on premises. Bring a water bottle to refill during classes and bring whatever else you’d like to drink at the Potluck. (beer & wine are fine).
